Bidders up 37% as Bond Wolfe raises nearly £23.5m in first auction of 2026
Bond Wolfe has made a strong start to 2026, raising nearly £23.5 million in its first auction of the year as bidder registrations surged by 37%.
The live-stream auction on 5 February saw 158 lots sold from 170 offered, a market-leading 93% success rate, generating a total of £23,489,000.
Remote bidding registrations rose significantly to 1,584, reflecting growing demand from buyers across the UK and beyond.
One of the standout lots was the former Oak Trees Day Centre at 10 Gorton Croft in Balsall Common, Warwickshire, sold on behalf of Solihull Council. The property achieved £340,000, almost double its £175,000+ guide price* after competitive bidding.
Two Walsall residential properties sold on behalf of housing association clients also attracted strong interest. A five-bedroomed semi-detached house at 8 Dawson Street achieved £170,000 from an £85,000+ guide price, while a three-bedroomed semi-detached house at 1 Blakenall Row sold for £144,000 from the same £85,000+ guide.
Another notable result was the sale of nine garages, freehold grassland and road verges near HMP Wealstun in Wetherby, West Yorkshire, which raised £58,000 for the Ministry of Justice — more than double its £25,000+ guide price.
The auction was supported by strong marketing engagement, with 840,188 website page views, 46,212 video tours watched and 40,068 legal packs downloaded ahead of auction day.
Gurpreet Bassi, chief executive of Bond Wolfe, said:
“The 37% increase in remote registered bidders reflects a clear shift in buyer appetite and confidence at the start of 2026.
We were delighted to achieve healthy results for a wide range of clients, including local authorities, government departments and housing associations.
The prices we continue to achieve demonstrate that demand for property remains strong, and it reinforces why now is an excellent time to sell by auction.”
Bond Wolfe’s next live-stream auction will take place on Thursday 26 March, with remote bidding available by proxy, telephone or internet.
