Traditional values, modern solutions

Do you have a property to sell or let?

A former Birmingham City Council youth centre, left derelict for more than a decade, is set to be offered for sale in Bond Wolfe’s next auction on Thursday 11 September.

Known locally as The Base, the property occupies a corner plot at the junction of Ward End Park Road and Foxton Road in Ward End. It will be offered with a guide price of £75,000+* in the livestreamed auction.

The building will be sold on a new 125-year lease at a peppercorn ground rent, with the condition that it is brought back into community use within 36 months of purchase.

Gurpreet Bassi, chief executive of Bond Wolfe, said:

“The Base was once a thriving community and youth centre, but it has been vacant and out of use since 2011. The building is now in a dilapidated condition and will require significant repair and refurbishment.

Despite this, it offers a fantastic opportunity for the right buyer to bring the property back into use and provide valuable facilities for the local community once again.”

The single-storey building sits within fenced grounds with roller shutter frontage and off-road parking for up to seven vehicles. Inside, it comprises:

  • Entrance lobby

  • Male, female and disabled toilets

  • Meeting hall

  • Rear lobby and store

  • Offices

  • Kitchen

The property has previously been considered for a Community Asset Transfer, but refurbishment costs made the option unviable. The council has confirmed that no offers will be considered prior to or after the auction.

The Base is among dozens of lots appearing in Bond Wolfe’s next auction, which will begin at 8.30am on Thursday 11 September.

The auction will be livestreamed via Bond Wolfe’s website, with remote bidding available by proxy, telephone or internet.
