Bond Wolfe caps off record £180m+ year with £23.5m December auction
Bond Wolfe has rounded off a record-breaking year by raising more than £23.5 million at its December property auction, taking total sales across its seven auctions in 2025 to a new annual high of more than £180 million.
The live-streamed auction on Wednesday 10 December got off to a strong start, with more than £2.25 million raised from the first three lots alone, all sold on behalf of Birmingham City Council.
Leading the local authority sales was the cleared site of the former Oscott Manor School in Kingstanding, which attracted competitive bidding before selling for £1.25 million from a guide price* of £750,000+.
Strong demand was also evident for two further council-owned properties, both of which sold for well over double their guide prices. The former Birchfield Community Day Nursery in Handsworth, listed at £275,000+, achieved £625,000, while the former Beeches Gold Day Centre in Great Barr sold for £403,000 from a guide price of £180,000+.
In total, 141 lots were sold from 167 offered on the day, representing an 85% success rate and a total auction sale figure of £23,589,281.
The December results took Bond Wolfe’s total auction sales for 2025 to £180,088,648 – the highest annual figure achieved since the firm launched its auction division in January 2019.
Gurpreet Bassi, chief executive of Bond Wolfe, said:
“Raising more than £23.5 million in our December auction is an excellent result and a fitting way to conclude a record year, particularly against an uncertain economic backdrop.
“The prices we continue to achieve for surplus sites sold on behalf of Birmingham City Council are especially encouraging and highlight the resilience of the property market.
“Demand for solid assets such as land and bricks-and-mortar property remains strong, and our results clearly demonstrate why auction remains such an effective route to market.”
Interest in the December auction was reflected in the level of online engagement in the run-up to the sale, with 1,114,366 website page views recorded, alongside 33,168 video tours watched and 27,998 legal packs downloaded.
Bond Wolfe’s first live-streamed auction of 2026 will take place on Thursday 5 February, with remote bidding available by proxy, telephone or online.
