More than 200 volunteers gathered in Birmingham on Saturday to pack food hampers for families and individuals in need as part of The Diwali Basket Brigade 2025 appeal.

The Bond Wolfe Charitable Trust, in partnership with Asha’s Restaurant, proudly donated £500 towards the initiative, which forms part of a nationwide effort to help combat food poverty and share the message of giving during Diwali.

This year’s Birmingham event took place in Hockley, where around 2,000 food hampers were packed and delivered to people of all faiths and backgrounds across the region. The Birmingham appeal was one of four major volunteer events held simultaneously across the UK, organised by The Diwali Foundation, the national charity behind the annual campaign.

Each carefully prepared hamper contained essential food items and treats to help brighten the festive period for those facing hardship.

“My heart is warm – there’s a huge team effort to bring this event together,”
said Deepak Parekh, founder and chair of trustees of The Diwali Foundation.
“The generosity of volunteers, sponsors and organisations like the Bond Wolfe Charitable Trust helps us continue spreading light and compassion to thousands of households every year.”

The Bond Wolfe Charitable Trust regularly supports local and national causes that make a tangible difference in communities, and the team was delighted to contribute to such an inspiring and inclusive initiative.

Lisa Worrall, representing the Bond Wolfe Charitable Trust, said:

“We are incredibly proud to support The Diwali Basket Brigade again this year. The dedication of everyone involved is truly inspiring, and it’s wonderful to see so many volunteers come together to help others during the festival of light.”

The Diwali Basket Brigade, now in its 25th year, continues to grow in scale and impact, with thousands of volunteers and donors helping to deliver tens of thousands of food parcels nationwide.
