Riverside living proving popular in run up to auction
A pair of Riverside living, former lock keepers’ cottages on the River Severn in Worcestershire are attracting strong interest well in advance of Bond Wolfe Auctions’ next remote bidding auction on Wednesday 29 July.
Riverside living properties Lock Keeper’s Cottage at Holt Heath and 2 Bevere Lock House at Camp Lane, Grimley, are both going under the hammer.
The locks were built in the 1830s when the River Severn was made navigable both for freight and leisure boating and have been occupied by lock keepers employed by British Waterways, now the Canal & River Trust, until 2010-11 when they were acquired by the same vendor who is now selling them.
Ron Darlington, a consultant at Bond Wolfe Auctions, said: “We have had a great deal of interest in both properties with well in excess of 20 viewings of Lock Keeper’s Cottage alone.”
Lock Keeper’s Cottage at Holt Heath is a Grade II property with reception hall, two further rooms, kitchen, bathroom and WC, and utility room on the ground floor. It has two bedrooms on the first floor. The property has front, side and rear gardens with off road parking and garage.
It is situated on the River Severn, six miles north of Worcester and nine miles south of Kidderminster and is in need of upgrading and improvement throughout. It has a guide* price of £130,000+.
A mile down the river towards Worcester, 2 Bevere Lock House at Camp Lane, Grimley, is a link-detached, two bedroom property at Bevere Lock set back from the river and with idyllic views.
The ground floor has an entrance hall, lounge, study/dining room, breakfast kitchen, pantry, and rear shared entrance lobby with garden store. The first floor has two bedrooms and a shower room with WC and the property has front, side and rear gardens and two allocated parking spaces. This property comes with a guide price of £175,000.
The auction on Wednesday 29 July starts at the earlier time of 9.00am, to accommodate the large catalogue being offered on the day, and will be livestreamed via Bond Wolfe Auctions’ website with remote bidding by proxy, telephone or internet only.
